Peter Moore About Peter EA Support

FIFA and Active More Workouts Make News at GamesCom

After a busy week in the UK, culminating in the Edinburgh Interactive Festival, I returned home to San Francisco for the weekend to support our latest announcement regarding EA SPORTS MMA. And what a blockbuster announcement it was, welcoming 5-time World Champion Randy Couture to the growing roster of fighters that will be featured in the game, which will ship in 2010. Hot on the heels of our recent announcement of Fedor Emelianenko,

Randy's addition to the team gives us two of the greatest fighters in the sport today, and a solid platform upon which we will continue to attract more of MMA's best talent, thus furthering our goal of growing the sport through marketing investment and the creation of a world-class game experience.

That evening I was thrilled to be able to attend the Strikeforce event at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, of which we were a co-sponsor and had three fighters on the card wearing EA SPORTS branding on their shorts. There were particularly impressive outings from Gegard Mousasi and Gilbert Melendez, but of course the main event was the bout between Gina Carano and Cris "Cyborg" Santos. Much to the disappointment of a passionate crowd, the fight didn't get out of the first round, as Cyborg overpowered Gina from the opening bell...

I am now back in Europe, having just finished my section of the EA press conference here at GamesCom in Cologne. Dave Rutter, producer on FIFA 10, showed the latest developments on the title as we ready for the October launch. Just to make sure I wasn't suffering from any lingering effects of jet lag, Olympic Gold Medalist and 4-time World Champion Figure Skater Katarina Witt put me through my paces on EA SPORTS Active More Workouts, the latest iteration of our top-selling interactive fitness product for the Wii...

Finally, it was a disappointing weekend for me sports-wise, with Liverpool getting off to a dismal start to the new EPL season with a loss to Tottenham Hotspur with a lackluster display that only served to underline how weak our squad now is with the loss of Xabi Alonso. To add to the misery, the Red Sox slipped out of the lead in the AL Wild Card race with a series loss to the Texas Rangers, looking almost disinterested in the process...

Will post latest updates from Cologne as the week develops.

What does everyone think of the Randy Couture announcement?  Anyone catch the Cyborg/Carano fight?  It was short but action packed.

For MMA fans, here's a great discussion around ratings in the game for some of the fighters that have already been announced.  Jason Barnes from our EA SPORTS MMA team is looking for some feedback on how those fighters should be rated.

Jake1256 I agree. A friend of mine has Madden 10 for the 360 and they have a feature called madden shop where you can basically pay for cheats. In superstar mode if you want to be someone already in the NFL besides a rookie you have to pay. LOL I can't imagine paying $60 plus tax and pay for features that show be included in the game. Is it really necessary to charge extra money because someone wants to be Jay Cutler instead of Matthew Stafford? What a joke. Also the online franchise they keep talking about you must pay for, the 10 year online franchise at least. The code they give you is good 1 time only for 1 year. Isn't that season mode? LOL

chill351974, while we always appreciate the feedback, I'd like to point out to everyone that Online Franchise is a free feature in the game. All you need to do is enter the code included with your copy of the game and you are good to go. You can participate in up to 5 Online Franchises and one time and there is no additional charge.

Jake1256, as Peter has stated many times, we have not abandoned the PC platform, we are just taking the time to reevaluate our process and ensure that we are putting out the best product possible. In the meantime, feel free to discuss the all things Madden PC in the forums with the rest of the EA SPORTS Community.

I have been playing Madden since 1995 but Madden 10 for the 360 will be my last. And this is why, I have been playing superstar mode on 15 min qt with the acc clock on 25 seconds. I also use player control instead of supersim for more realistic stats.Well I just got done playing a game that in the second qt I was on my opponent 22 yard line with 4th and 6 and the play call was punt. I called 3 time outs and took 3 5 yard delay of game  and the play call was still punt. I even tried to audible but you can't on a punt. And then in the 4 qt it was 4th and 3 on my opponent 19 yard line and the same thing happened. So I lost 18-14. Why is it that EA has time to make extra stuff for extra money but can't get the game modes that came with the game to work correct? Or do I have to buy the field goal kicking option for super star mode? You guys are incredible. What a rip off.

dewiel you said the following,

You can participate in up to 5 Online Franchises and one time and there is no additional charge.

That may be true in the US but not the UK. But anyway is there any new information on TW Online?

whowantsit56, not sure what you are referring to here. If you called a timeout, you should have been taken back to the play calling screen where you could select a different play. Are you referring to the play selection when you "Ask Madden"?

dewiel you can not select your own plays in superstar mode. So the logic needs to be rewritten, punting when I'm in obvious field goal range is just stupid. If EA doesn't want to support this mode then just drop it instead of using it as a selling point.
