Welcome to Peter Moore's Official Blog

In this blog you'll see what Peter thinks about sports, sports video games, and the industry in general. We hope this gives you an inside look at EA SPORTS, so please enjoy!

Peter Moore About Peter EA Support

Connect, Share, and Compete

I hope everyone enjoyed following all the news of E3 this week.  I’m just trying to catch my breath (and looking forward to catching up on my sleep) from what I think was a great week in Los Angeles, but in the meantime I wanted to quickly touch on one of our many announcements last week – the re-launch of EASPORTS.com.  We’ve been talking a lot over the past few months about the potential of online, whether to allow EA SPORTS fans to enjoy fresh, new content, go head to head in competitive matches or even just get in touch with us to voice their opinions or problems. I’m proud to say that our announcement at E3 is an important next step in harnessing all the potential of our connected experiences. If you missed the EA press conference where these and a  number of other announcements (MMA, for example) were made, you can view the archived video here.

The new website is in Beta , as was our EA SPORTS World community site before it.  Why? Simply put, we wanted to share it with you before it was 100% complete – and so you can get a taste for the things to come and keep coming back to find out more. I’m not going to spoil any surprises, but I do want to reflect on those all important three words above – Connect, Share and Compete.

Since last June, we’ve seen close to 600 million online game sessions of EA SPORTS games played. That’s a lot of virtual blood, sweat and tears. Our plan is to ensure you can savour those victories and plan to avenge those defeats even when the console is turned off. Through the web site, you can stay connected during your lunch break or a business trip.

As part of the relaunch, you’ll have noticed even more blogs go live, so you can connect with the Producers direct – or maybe you’ve joined the Twitterati and are discussing your games with the Community Managers (the Essentials Carousel on the Beta has a listing in the Community section for this team). Perhaps you’ve posted on our new look forums.

I have said before how much I enjoy the robust discussion on this blog, but equally I’ve often referred to the plans afoot to ensure that when you do share your concerns and comments with us, that they get a response. I do read every post, but I’ve also empowered many people across the company, who have both the time and the details at their fingertips to provide answers to or join the debate with you.

Like any website, the new look site is evolving. I’d like to personally invite you to be a part of it’s future – connect, compete with our games and share your thoughts.

MR. Moore should either quit or something cause all the EA Sports games i have ever played were so horrible i wanted to throw them across the *** room. Mr. Moore really needs to reevaluate who he has making the games if he makes that decission. I especially play all the NHL games and they are on average 60 to 70% wrong. half the *** rosters are 3 yrs behind. there also should never be nothing lower the an Pro level or lower then 15 minute games. how realistic is a 2 min game really? not at all. the game shouldnt ever come out til after that years draft so the players who were drafted are in the game especially if we already know they will play. thats just some things wrong with games. Referee's in the game suck. they call everything on you nothing ever on the *** computer when they do things 10 times worse.

speaking of game play, how can you say its a good game when Martin Brodeur in goal and flops to the ice just cause the guy on other team moves from back of the net to the front. its fricking funny how bad it is. the defenders back off and leave it wide open to get to the *** net, they HIT the person before they get to the net people. im done for now i think. HIRE NEW PEOPLE, PERFERABLY PEOPLE WHO WATCH THE  SPORT THEY ARE MAKING.

hey ham, that's a little harsh don't u think?  let's ease up on the * for the sake of the kids enjoying the game.  and for the record, the team are all fans of hockey.  we are Canadian.  i suggest you not question the love and passion of hockey to a Canadian :them's first-person fightin' words P

you've got some good suggestions, though to say that Peter should quit is extraordinary isn't it?  also, the guys making the NHL game are definitely fans of the game.  get the updates, ham, some of the things you bring up, especially about goaltending have already been mentioned in an earlier NHL blog.

send me your concerns and other suggestions and I'll point you in the right direction.

I would just like to say that EA you are a class act company .. I know these guys love the games they are making I see it in there notes and blogs through twitter and forms guys thanks for all your hard work!!

I was wondering also about Madden I'm sure i'll find out soon enough but will there be anything like teambuilder for it in the future? Also will there be a way of updating equipment for players that have the wrong stuff on or change after season starts for online play since the new cameras capture alot more angels in the game and is more noticeable ??

Guys all the games look like they are going to be very good this year..

Thanks

hey Pete, I must say that Ian and company have put alot of effort into making madden 10 look as close to the real thing as possible I would just like to know if there is any chance that elements like a unbuckled chin straps on one side of the helmet and cornerbacks carrying the football with two hands on the ball before palming the pigskin on returns can still be implemented prior to the release of Madden 10.  Here is a video from NCAA football 10 that shows the QB carrying the ball with the two handed manner i hope to see in madden 10 by both punt returners and intercepting db's alike.

Mr. Moore I don't know if you have this problem in NCAA 2010 but i just wanted to let you know that in NCAA 09 when the QB releases the ball it rotates the wrong way. I just caught it because of the slowmo shot on long passes. I'm sure someone already caught on to it but I just want to make sure.
