Peter Moore About Peter EA Support

Wii MotionPlus News

I'm sure many of you read the news last week about Nintendo's Wii MotionPlus accessory hitting retail on June 8.  This is obviously great news for gamers and an announcement that means a lot for us here at EA SPORTS, given the launches of Tiger Woods PGA TOUR and Grand Slam Tennis a week later.

The early reaction from folks who have had a chance to play builds of both games using the WMP has been tremendous, and we think the accessory is going to enhance the authentic sports motion that we can bring to the platform for sports like golf and tennis.  With our lineup this year, I think we're in the position to redefine the sports experience on the Wii.

The bigger news for us, which we've just announced today, is our exclusive, limited-time offer for bundles for Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 10 and Grand Slam Tennis.  In North America and in Europe, we'll have the Wii MotionPlus bundled with Tiger Woods PGA TOUR.  And in Europe only, we'll have Grand Slam Tennis bundled with the Wii MotionPlus.  Both are exclusive offers and both allow gamers to get the Wii MotionPlus for just an additional $10.  We're excited about the great value and the partnership with Nintendo on this and think it's a big win for gamers.  Hope you'll agree.

On a broader sports note, I am relieved to see Red Sox bats finally wake up, and even more excited to see the Yanks give up 22 runs in their new monolith versus the "mighty" Indians...

Great to hear TIger Woods news but I think that it would be helpful for EA Sports to publicly acknowledge that the PC version is coming back.  Right now when Gamespot or some other site reports on this title they neglect to include that the PC version is coming back.  EA Sports needs to get public images of this game out as well as public information for how to purchase this game.

Keeping it top secret until the day it launches will only set this platform up for failure.  Show us that EA Sports is committed to making the PC platform profitable and better than what we previously knew as the PC platform.

I believe that EA Sports needs to team up with a media website to provide information about this platform.  Make people know that this platform is making a comeback.  Flood the media with information instead of the top-secret approach.

As has been posted in the very blogs on numerous occasions, EA will reveal their plans for the PC version of TW when they have something to release. It is on their timetable, not ours. And I can assure you they will not "keep it secret til the day it launches". The game is deep into development and they simply are not ready to reveal any specifics at this time. Pounding these blogs with the same requests day in and day out is not going to convince EA to release anything they have not already planned to release. They and I understand your excitement about a new TW for PC, but information about the game is simply not ready for prime time....when they DO release information about it, I feel it will be well worth the wait.

EA Sports needs to realize that PC gamers have a voice and we have opinions.  We are not going away.

Peter Moore needs to understand that PC gamers will continue to make their voice heard.

Peter Moore needs to understand that PC gamers have been waiting for almost a year for any type of information.  We are not going away.

My previous point is that EA Sports needs to address the perception of this topic in the media.

Currently, if you go to a story about Tiger Woods launching on June 15th there is no mention of a PC version.  I think that is the date.  I think that EA or EA Sports PR needs to let the various media websites know that the status for this game on this platform is undecided.  This is the stance that Peter Moore is taking here on his blog.

There needs to be massive media coverage of these launches.  All gamers need to know that these products are relaunching once again.

EA Sports needs to make some type of achknowledgement of this product before June 15th so uneducated gamers won't assume that the game is launching for the PC this year.  I know that it is launching but I have following the blogs and forums so I know.

EA Sports needs to be committed to making this launch a profitable launch so that we aren't wondering about the series in a year.  Simply informing websites that Tiger Woods PC is undecided doesn't seem too unreasonable to me.  Actually, it goes right along with the company line.

I hope so and I hope that Madden PC will be worth the wait as well. While there is excitement about the upcoming PC titles there is also frustration at watching information for the console titles being provided on a consistant basis while we PC Gamers are being left in the dark and having to wait. I hope that Peter and Co. can understand that frustration and why we keep trying to get any info we can get.

Eacom Golf Tim, I do not know if you can answer this but when you visited EAS where you able to give any input or suggestions about the pc titles? I'm curious to know that while developing these PC titles will EAS take any of the PC community's input and suggestions to help develope a game the PC gamer can enjoy? Obviously they have been doing so for the consoles for some time.

Peter and Co.: If the PC titles turn out to be online only and/or there is no packaging and there is this big PR about the Madden cover then can you provide the Madden PC game with a virtual cover(jpeg?)? Madden always has a cover and the Madden PC game should be no different.

I can tell you that the TW Production Team took notes and shared feedback the entire time we were there. They are reading the forums, producing Developer Blog updates, and have already implemented feedback from us into TW10 for consoles. I expect they will do the same for TW PC. In all my years of working with EA and the TW Production Team, I have NEVER seen the kind of two-way communication from the TW Team that I am seeing today. I think they are starting to understand the value of communicating with their communities to shape the games to represent what their users are looking for in their gaming experiences. I know it is difficult to come to these blogs on a weekly basis and still find no information about certain PC Sports titles. Keep in mind that the reason EA did not release 09 PC titles for Madden and TW was their strategy of re-inventing said franchises for the PC versions that PC gamers would embrace. What I have seen of TW PC, they are being very true to that strategy and they are taking their time in development and communications to make sure they back up their strategy. I know nothing about Madden for PC, but I can simply say that TW for PC is going to back up that strategy and then some if they deliver on what I witnessed. Francise overhauls take time to do right and that is why I believe you have not heard any details yet on TW PC or Madden PC. I can assure you that when EA IS ready to communicate what they are up to, it should be worth the wait IMO. I know you and everyone else wants information NOW, but it will come when EA is ready to share it.

Here's an idea.

How about making the upcoming launch of the PC platform fun once again?  Create a buzz for the product.  Have a website that has a countdown date showing when EA Sports is going to choose to discuss the new launches.  This is what other game developers do when they need to launch a title.  Notice that nobody said you have to give away all of the EA Sports secret.

The website could simply say that on x/x/xxxx date, EA Sports will have a major announcement.  Make sure that all of the major gaming media so that media and fans can speculate on what the announcement will be.  Isn't EA Sports tired of hearing gamers talk about how EA Sports discontinued the PC lineup?  One way to fix that would be to create a new buzz for the future.  Have EA Sports talked about in a positive way and not in a negative way.

This is an extremely important product launch for Peter Moore and in my mind it will define his tenure at EA Sports.  Peter Moore is currently viewed as the person who killed PC gaming.  Can Peter Moore be the one to effectively reboot the PC platform?

Take a look at the original post for the PC platform.  This would be the edition where Peter Moore announced that EA Sports was taking a year off.  This topic had close to 300 posts on it at last glance and 95 percent of those people haven't posted since then.  I am not like the majority of the gamers here.  I will continue to make my points and make my presence felt until EA Sports addresses the PC platform to my satisfaction.

I am going away like Peter Moore wants me to.  It is time for the PC gamers to step up and make their voices heard.  Speak with your wallets when the first PC title from EA Sports comes out so that we don't have to put up with this bullsh!t again.

aggiefan4life,

How do you know that EA Sports does not already have plans to do just that for TW PC? Again, they have not announced anything yet for a reason. As I have stated numerous times, when EA Sports is ready to announce their plans for TW PC, they will. Just because they aren't ready to release this information right now means nothing more than they aren't ready. Would you prefer they make a half-baked announcement only to have to back away from that announcement because they released information prematurely and can't deliver on what was promised? EA will release their plans when EA is ready, not when users demand it. I don't know if I or raczilla can state it any clearer. This is certainly nothing new from ANY game developer or publisher. Not sure why some of you are demanding information that simply is not ready to be released yet.

Lastly, Peter Moore did NOT kill the PC platform. Decliniing sales and stale products killed EA Sports PC gaming. I have seen the TW PC numbers and there is no question that EA Sports made the right choice to step back (not releasing an 09 version) and re-invigorate the TW franchise for PC. I know you and others can't see this now, but in time you will.

I have responded to a couple of you offering sound reasons why EA is taking the information strategy that they currently are on. Yet the responses are still that EA should do what you want right now regardless of the consequences of announcing a product before it is ready. I am really sorry you guys can't take my word for it as I know what I am talking about and all I am trying to do is help you understand that EA will communicate their plans when they are ready and not a moment sooner. Since it is apparent that you are ignoring what I am communicating to you, I will back away from the blog and let you guys do what you want. At the end of the day, demanding that EA give you information they aren't ready to release has not worked so far and it won't until they are ready. Passion for the game and PC gaming is great as I share that passion with you. Your voices have been heard.

Notice that Aggiefan4life didn't say Peter Moore was reason for the PC platform being killed off.  This happened under his watch.  His team or his supervisor ultimately made the decision to kill this platform on temporary basis.

Showing a counter with phrase "check back on this date for a major annnoucement" would be promising something EA Sports couldn't deliver?  IF the Tiger Woods game is well into development then why wouldn't they want to make an annoucement in the future?

The point has been that the major websites do not mention the PC versions of Tiger Woods when they release news on these products.  Most websites state at the end of an article that the particular game will be available on these platforms.  Why can't they say that EA Sports hasn't decided whether to produce this title for the PC platform yet?  Saying that the status is undecided wouldn't be making promises that EA Sports can't keep.

I keep posting here because I want the PC platform to be sucessful once and for all.  None of us want to be in this same position when the 2011 games are rolled out.  The best way to prevent that is to roll out the platform in a way that will make the games sell.  Having very few people know about a product usually dooms a products future.  Notice that gamemakers usually release screenshots before a product is released.  Gamers want to know what they are getting.

This whole process has been a public relations nightmare.  EA Sports could have handled this in a much better way.  I guess that Raczilla has a higher inside EA Sports than Peter Moore since he was able to talk in a limited capacity about the Tiger Woods PC product.  Lets get this straight.  Raczilla can talk out a products future but Peter Moore can't?

Would we prefer a half-baked announcement?  Yes, any type of communication will be better than what we are getting at this point.  What are gamers who are trying to decide whether to buy a 360 console since EA Sports has announced anything for PC?  Saving up money for a console doesn't happen overnight.  Some gamers might want to decide whether to try out the 360 version of Tiger Woods since nothing has been officially announced for the PC.  Gamers need to understand that the PC version could be a potential choice.  The console versions of Tiger Woods launch on June 15th so EA Sports needs to hurry up with their announcements.

There needs to be a buzz created around the PC platform.  Gamers need to be tired of hearing that EA Sports is making a comeback with the PC platforms.  Is the number who know about it now in the double digits yet?  Extremely doubtful judging by quality of communications coming from EA Sports.  The company line only gets you so far and most of regulars here are trying of hearing the company line.

Tim - We are not ignoring you.  We are simply coming up with alternative ideas/suggestions for EA Sports to consider when launching this critical product.  Note that Raczilla has asked for our feedback.  Are we supposed to ignore his request for feedback?  This isn't a one on one conversation with you.  We hear you.  With any luck this will be a highly sucessful launch and we will get a great a product as a result.

You may choose to go away.  Peter Moore wants the PC gamers to go away and stop asking questions but I won't do that.  He and EA Sports need to understand that we are going anywhere until this situation is addressed by EA Sports.  I will not go away as the 300 responders who originally responded this issue did.  I am in this for the long haul whether you like it or not.

EF-Hybrid said:

One final thought,

EA Sports should welcome our suggestions for the PC platform since their way of delivering this product wasn't very sucessful.  If you consider having to kill off a platform because of bad sales sucessful then I hope that you don't run very businesses.  Obviously, EA Sports needs our help.  The tight-lipped approach has been used for years according to EAcom Golf Tim.  Look how effective it was for the PC platform.  Businesses need to evolve and change over time.  Maybe someday EA Sports will change their outdated way of communicating.

I think that it is time for Tim to take a nice long vacation.  The pressure of posting the exact same thing over and over again has finally gotten to him.  News flash.  This isn't the EAcom Golf Tim blog.

The Tiger Woods PC argument is supposed to end because the high and mighty Tim is tired of the topic?  When I visited Tim's Tiger Woods PC site I noticed that there has was only one new topic for yesterday.  I guess Tim has been sucessful in supressing all talk about a new Tiger Woods PC game.  Perhaps, the reason for low visitors is bad attitude that EAcom Golf Tim has displayed when posting here.

forum.ea.com/.../561.page

What have we gotten by pounding this site?  We have actually recieved an unofficial response from Raczilla confirming that a new Tiger Woods PC game is being made.    We  certainly didn't hear that response from Peter Moore or EAcom Golf Tim as they are continuing to hide behind the game announcements edition of this blog.

How do I know that EA Sports doesn't plan to a countdown feature to announce TIger Woods PC coming back?  Post me a link showing where EA Sports is using this.  It is certainly well hidden if it exists at all.  Again, very few people know about this game which mean very few people are likely to buy the game.

The last generation of PC games were failures so the geniuses at EA Sports want to use the same techniques to market the new game?  Those who do not learn from history's mistakes are doomed to repeat them once again.  Peter Moore and company have chosen to ignore this quote.  Perhaps the reason why we continue to post with new ideas is to try and help the new generation of PC titles be sucessful.  The top-secret approach has been designed to shut the PC gamer up but it hasn't worked yet.  Chalk it up as another failure for the Peter Moore administration.

We need to create a buzz for these new products and hopefully EA Sports will join the crusade since they are producing/developing the new game.

Sorry to unload with a rant but there were several issues that I needed to get off of my chest.

I look forward to hearing how and when to buy the new Tiger Woods PC game.  I applaud EA Sports for taking this gamble once again.  I think that it is worth noting that EA Sports needs to keep sales expectations for any PC title low since PC gaming sales have slumped in recent years.

I echo the sentiments of the other posters, and appreciate the feedback Tim. As I've mentioned to Rac, if you are truly 'revitalizing' the PC platform, it would be good to get feedback/input from the PC community in the same manner that you are for the platforms. EA's community communications are the best they have been in a long while. You have a good opportunity now to get our input specific to the PC platform. Not just game specifics, but platform specifics... Micro transactions, cloud computing, server / fee based subscription gaming, Steam and digital distribution, all of the things that make the PC platform unique.

The first comment that I will make is WOW.  I would say that the criticism was unwarranted but in this case I think that aggiefan4life hit the nail right on the head.  It may not have been a nice way to say it but EAcom Golf Tim had it coming.

I don't take back what I said earlier but I hope that it didn't come across as a personal attack.

As Magsru99 said, it is time for EA Sports to listen to comments and opinions expressed here to make the PC game platform a sucess when it relaunches in the future.  Simply responding to every commet/suggestion with "when EA Sports is ready to make an announcement they will make that announcement" doesn't help the situation.  Tim needs to understand that wasn't helping the conversation.  A lot of times these responses would come as I was responding to something that Raczilla had said.

It was a good time for Tim to step back and get ready for more interaction.

aggiefan4life,

As Dewiel stated, I came here to try to help you and others understand why EA has not communicated much regarding TW PC or PC titles in gerneral for EA Sports. Since you have found my efforts to help here such a distraction, I will leave this particular blog. My apologies for trying to shed some light as to why EA Sports has not communicated to your liking. I won't make that mistake again.

And just as a side note....if you are an Aggie as in Texas A&M Aggie, so am I. Class of 1980.. Too bad we won't be able to continue any further discussions here.

EAcom Golf Tim,

I am a Texas A&M Aggie.  Class of 1997.  Thank you.  EAcom Golf Tim, you made me younger today.  I have held season tickets at Kyle Field for 10 years so you can see where my disposable income goes.  I think that it has been 10 years.  I have had seats in the Zone since it first opened.  No other member has ever occupied my seats unless I gave them the tickets.

EAcom Golf Tim, EA Sports has an Aggie on staff?  How did EA Sports forget to have the Aggie War Hymm play after scores in last year's edition of NCAA 2009?  I realize that you are on the golf side of things but I would hope that an Aggie would want this glaring error corrected.  Find out the person in charge of this and straighten them out.

Maybe we can get a good version of the new Miramount golf course in Tiger Woods where the A&M Golf Team plays their games.

I think that EA Sports might want to consider a suggestion box for the upcoming PC platform.  Maybe a sticky type thing where all of the ideas for the PC platform can be put together.

Peter Moore - Listen up.  I have some cutting edge ideas for you.  This will cost you nothing.  Since I and other gamers are used to spending cash for our games, how about a gift card type system to release the PC games on?  The idea is that you go into a store such as Best Buy and you buy a card with a code on it.  You bring it home and you activate to get your game.  There will be a unique code on each card and an internet connection will be required to get the product.  The only problem I see is the system requirements have to be on the packaging by law.  I may be mistaken on that but I haven't seen a piece of software that didn't have it.

EAcom Golf Tim, swing by texags.com if you want to meet some other Aggies.  You can find most of the gamers in the Nerdery.  We need an Aggie pipeline into EA Sports so we can get our games represented the way that our great university deserves to be represented.

Don't take what we said personal on here.  I have visited your other EA Sports home.  Maybe, I will drop a few comments the next time I am there.

The reason for using cash for games is so that the girlfriend can't look at credit card statements and complain about much I spend every month for games!!  These gift cards could be marketed to the male demographic.

aggiefan4life,

Thanks for the comments and it is good to meet other Ags regardless of where.

I would like to take our discussion to the TW forum PM if you don't mind. This blog is about the Wii motion Plus and out of respect for Peter, EA Sports and the fans here, I think it would be a good idea to take our discussion elsewhere, if you don't mind.

Oh and lastly, I am not an EA Staff member nor employee (however I am available for a discussion with Peter and the TW Staff if they are so interested). I am a volunteer moderator and Community Leader for the TW Community and have been for 9 years and counting. I'll share more in a PM.

Now, back to the topic at hand.....

I don't PM.  I know all I need to know about your background.

Keep in Peter Moore's ear.  He needs some Aggie influence in him.  Take him to one of our football games so he can see how we do things.  He will then agree that his football games don't do our experience justice.
