Welcome to Peter Moore's Official Blog

In this blog you'll see what Peter thinks about sports, sports video games, and the industry in general. We hope this gives you an inside look at EA SPORTS, so please enjoy!

Peter Moore About Peter EA Support

Fight For Every Yard

For several weeks now, we've been getting a great response for our Madden NFL 10 producer blogs, where the development team has been going deep on things like procedural awareness, improvements to the QB, tuning being done to the wide receivers and DBs, and more. I hope you've been enjoying the level of engagement the team is offering up. If you're a Madden fan, and have any questions about the game in development, I urge you to visit the blogs and engage with the team.

For those following along, hopefully it's already apparent that as we close the books on an incredible two decades of Madden NFL football that we're ushering in an exciting new era for the game with the most detailed and comprehensive edition of Madden in the history of the franchise.  We're hitting the real sweet spot of development for this generation of consoles as the team is really hitting its stride in squeezing every ounce of power and capability from the hardware. In fact, the Madden team is taking such dramatic strides this year that we're in the position to go deep on features and details earlier than we've ever done before.

While we have a number of announcements and updates to come over the next several weeks leading up to next month's NFL Draft, I'm excited to debut the first screenshot from this year's game right here this week.  The old adage says, "A picture is worth a thousand words", and that is certainly true in this fantastic shot.  How many improvements can you pick out?  The Madden dev team will call each one out in their blog later this week.

Over the next several weeks you're going to be hearing more about how this year's game is going to continue to push the boundaries of authenticity in gameplay, presentation, and art style.  It's the fight for every yard in the NFL that makes the battles playing out on Sundays throughout the fall and winter so compelling.  From everything I have seen in Madden NFL 10 so far this year, the authenticity of gameplay is showing striking improvement in physics, realism and responsiveness. Having recently sat through a full product review from our team in Orlando, it's abundantly clear that this could be the deepest, most graphically-rich Madden ever, and a stunning testament to the talented development team who have had a maniacal focus delivering a landmark title to Madden Nation in 2009.

Of course, now's usually a good time of year for the debate to begin raging about who will be on the cover of this year's game.  I've probably been asked a couple of dozen times already over the past month in interviews.  You're not going to get any hints here from me (or are you?), but soon we'll begin highlighting a number of fine candidates who represent that fight for every yard as we build up to late April's announcement.

I know who I want to see...but who would you choose?

Cheers,

Peter

PS...spectacular win for Liverpool yesterday versus Aston Villa, on the heels of Man Utd's debacle at Fulham on Saturday. Too little too late, or are Man Utd about to implode? Either way, the Premier League is going down to the wire, and squad depth and injuries will ultimately be the deciding factor.

NCAA bracket? Like my Golden Bears, I went down in the first round and now I am staving off being once again in the bottom spot in the EA SPORTS bracket.

Chain gang, refs, and hand towels ..... Oh my.  Good job EA in delivering some of the things the community has been asking about for a while.  I'm glad to see this in the game and I'm real excited about the things that the producers have been blogging about.  The emphasis on Sim gameplay is something that I know is going to be tough but I'm liking what I'm reading so far.

Geez Unbreakable7 what do you want from EA? I could understand that they should look more like players on the field, but you want them to have awareness too lol. So they should catch thrown away balls by QB's. C'mon man be realistic. Keep up the good work EA. Just make sure the gameplay is tight everything else will come in due time. It's like having a banging *** girlfriend who has the IQ of 3 year old. It's nice to look at first but after the a while the looks won't keep you around in the long run.

Uhm i do wonder though how much photoshop has gone into that flashy picture???

Since i am a gameplay person Peter, is the euphoria engine used in this game or we are still playing an animation based game?

Second: why can't you bloody use the same engine for a long waited rugby game? (since there are several cricket freaks, let me be a rugby nut)

Peter,

I have seen on the internet somewhere the platforms listed for Tiger Woods and the PC platform has been omitted.  Is the game not going to be on the PC this year?  Also, I noticed that the game is launching much earlier than usual.  It has normally been launching in September but in June/July this year.  I still hold out hope that the PC version will launch on the old date although the article doesn't talk about the PC Platform.  I will continue to press for info. on the games.

When are we going to see the new way of doing things on the PC platform?  I guess that the new EA strategy is to sit on the sidelines.

www.gamespot.com/.../news.html

I want to get excited about NCAA 10 but please tell me that windsocks aren't the biggest news for this title.

The NCAA development pages are dead at the moment so I question how much user input was actually taken into consideration when developing this game.

I seem to recall the EA CEO stating the reason that EA lost money was because they didn't make great games.  The Peter Moore solution seems to be to make windsocks the great new feature or NCAA 08 part 3 as I refer to it.

I seem to recall the EA CEO also stressing the need to concentrate on the Wii platform.  I guess that the Peter Moore solution would be to cancel NCAA football for the Wii.

The good news from both of these stories is that Peter Moore should be on his way out the door thanks to these brilliant strategies.  Maybe EA Sports can hire somebody who can communicate with users about the status of games instead of ignoring user's requests for information.

The game looks real good alot of attention to detail has been taken into consideration. Hopefully the same amout of attention if not even more was put towards gameplay and the little things to make the play as realistic as it could possibly play. The sideline players from the from this view do seem to look alot better. Refs on the field and hand towels are a nice touch. Will their be chaing gangs? Keep up the good work EA. Hopefully you guys will announce that you will bring back "Fair Play" for next gen during online play it's really need.

Wow... I bet even if this was a post about madden 10's cover athlete someone would still bring up a completely irrelevant issue.

"Hey look at this picture of Madden 10's graphics!"

"Well, looking at this all I can say is I hope they fix franchise mode..."

Honestly.

But hey, Phil did say that the team is making progress a lot faster than before so look forward to improvements in key areas ALREADY in the game.

The screen shot looks AWESOME! Good job EA!

I noticed, Refs, player towels, chain gang, more people on the sideline (maybe?), Gatorade buckets on the sideline, Players look built better to their size. Did I see rebok shoes on one of the players?

I know its still early in development. But, the grass doesnt really look quite right when the players are standing on it. Maybe, that can be touched up a little bit?

Anyways, thanks for the update.

players seem smaller, swin move looks realistic, shiny helmets, hand towels, refs, chains, QB actually hold the ball at the right spot, 2 hands on the ball when dropping back. I would be disapointed if it was M.Barber very much so. Why not a defensive player? havent had one since Ray Ray. I think that Fitz will be on the cover. BUT with the theme of fight for every yard I say Brandon Jacobs or Michael Turner

This is a nice shot of Madden 10

As far as the coaches on the sideline can they please be the real coaches. It amazed me that you can only see the actual head coach on Madden 09 when you challenge a play. When calling time outs EA should steal some ideas of NBA 2k9 w/ the changes during the timeout and the players and coaches interacting. Can the sideline PLEASE become more detailed. In the actual games players are talking amongst each other, using oxygen tanks, and sitting on the bench. Convert all the deep features of Nfl Head Coach 09 into Madden 10 franchise mode. Live up to your motto, "If its in the game its in the game" PLEEAASSEE

Everyone pretty much covered what you can see one thing that i noticed is that if this is a gameplay image it is a darker image i guess to go towards the realism of gameplay which is a pretty good touch but i havent commented on any of the updates but i would like if they add the fair play while playing online cuz its ridiculous on there and make the QB sneak needs to be more realistic period. and make the passing more realistic is it me or do these LB's and DB's can jump 5' well thats my comments for this week well hold up that momentum better be fixed cuz im not seeing chris johnson running through anybody maybe make him more elusive vise versa with power backs they can stiff are and run through you but not juke anybody you know just my thoughts

Everyone is complaining about thisgs such as the players not looking like theyre standidng on the grass. Last time i checked, THIS IS THE 1ST SCREEN!! calm down, the game is still 5 months away. EA cant possibly address every problem now. Im sure they know what they need to upgrade, so let them do it. On the other hand, I like the towels, refs on the field, and the chain gang/field markers. Hopefully, the refs can have AI so they can hit one of the players. I believe that happened in one of those college games this year.

Eli Suks said:

March 23, 2009 1:57 PM

Really nice job EA. This is looking really good.  ONe thing i would like to see is more gloves and a New postion....Long Snapper! They need their own position.  About the gloves, in Madden you have Black, White, and Team Color. What About alternate colors. Randy Moss is on the Pats and he has orange gloves. Give us the option to pick the color of the gloves (ex. Black, White, Blue, Red, Yellow, Green, Orange, Purple, etc.).

this screen shot looks great! dont have much to suggest but the pouches in cold weather and rib potectors maybe. The defensive line should have their head turned towards the qb(thats awareness).Im not big on all the details but that pocket starting to look better.i notice that arm piece that starks has on is new, hand towels, refs, chain gang, looks like more coaches on the sideline, ben has one glove on and one off, different body types, reebok logos, shiny helmets,,no hands going through the ball or the players, new handwrap, realistic name tags, gatorade, and the really small team name on the cardinals jersey

TreyIM2 said:

Sorry, Peter, for the profanity I'm about to drop but this goes out to the complainers - WHAT THE  IS WRONG WITH ALL YOU SPOILED  BITCHES AND ALL YOUR  WHINING???

EA is doing a GREAT job, improving this game year to year and you bratty *** bitches get up here and cry like the little *** babies that you are instead of giving praise to the improvements. I hate small minded fucks like you. Such a poison to the internet....

Ahem, again, my apologies but I just get so irritated by people who are unappreciative of anything. That pic is literally worth a thousand words, to me. Looks even better graphically, the yard markers, refs, Gatorade coolers and even player towels are included for this year's Madden. Everytime something new about Madden comes out, I end up playing Madden 09, again, which I would normally be done with at this time of the year. Kudos and keep up the great work and, Pete, I'm really glad EA acquired your services because it seems that you're the fire under EA's but that EA really needed.

Valdarez said:

Push the boundaries?  Seriously.  You still haven't caught up to ESPN NFL2K5.  How about catch up to your competitor and then you can start talking about pushing the boundaries.  APF2K8, a quick port, remains a realistic representation of football than the current revision of Madden.

Obviously the biggest change in that picture is referees.  Something that was in NFL2K5, half a decade ago.  My guess this is one of the primary reasons for the directional awareness?  The refs are actually going to be watching the ball and the players?

I kind of have to agree with Trey.

The game looks absolutely brilliant if one likes the Madden franchise, but the complainers need to go.

Socks, towels, cleats, O2 tanks, gloves, Gatorade!?  What does that bring to the gameplay?

What a bunch of spoiled whiners!  Always wanting more.

Yes, one can say "if the motto is 'It's in the game', everything should be in the game".

But what about that couple that is season ticket holders in Green Bay that always sit on the 50 five rows up?  I don't think I've ever seen them in an EA game, but they are in the game in Green Bay.

See how rediculous we can make the whiners arguments?

You all need to relax.

EUPHORIA ENGINE PLEASE!!!!  I heard it will be used for madden 2012 I wish that was changed to this year although I understand thats impossible because the game is already under development.  I watched the backbreaker videos from 2007 and the tackling and animations look amazing.  I've always loved madden over 2k football because I enjoy the overall gameplay of Madden even though 2k had better animations back then.  These backbreaker videos however show technology that was available in 2007 and I wish it had been picked up for this years edition of Madden.  Oh well I will still thoroughly enjoy Madden 10 and hopefully this engine can be used for Madden 11.  Check out youtube for the Backbreaker videos to see what I'm talking about.  I referenced it after reading a post from last week and I guarantee you'll be impressed.

To a previous comment about using the wedge for KR/PR I beleive this year the NFL is not allowing teams to do this anymore due to injuries.  There are a lot of iffy rule changes coming up to protect players and this is one of them.  Not sure if its officially been ruled illegal but I heard on Serious NFL radio it was not going to be allowed next season.

Oh and I agree with putting Michael Turner on the front cover if you go with an offensive player. Or you can put someone like Patrick Willis if you go defensive. Or you can put them both about to collide (like you're doing with the fight night round 4 cover with Ali and Tyson) and have the Fight for Every Yard subtitle under Madden 10 kinda like Race for the Heisman was after NCAA 06 or chase for the Cup in NASCAR. Just a thought.

First off I would like to thank EA for giving us this wonderful experience being apart of the growth of Madden 10. It's like being able to watch your son from conception all the way to birth with vivid pictures and updates instead of crappy ultrasounds, thank you EA for letting us not only see the development but also chime in and make the game even better. Now about the pic it self, great job with the towels and looks like the blocking is better detailed as well as the refs and chain gang and having the QB actually standing in the pocket is nice. On the topic about the cover boy it's with great respect I have for the EA crew I say if Drew Brees is on the cover of Madden 10 then something is wrong. Drew Brees is the perfect cover boy for Madden 10, not only coming off almost the best passing year of a QB but having  been an ambassador for the game by visiting the troops over in Iraq and all the work he has done in New Orleans. I know most people want Big Ben or Kurt Warner or somebody but Drew Brees has done more not only as a football player but as a person. So once again thanks a lot EA for your generosity and keep up the the good work.

This is a bit "picky" but are the players on the sidelines going to be active in madden 10 or are they just going to be holo-graphics so to speak that when players from the field run out of bonuds they go through the guys on the sidelines. The players on the sidelines, well actually no one on the sidelines seems to be following the action on the field they just stand there and clap timidly. I want the sidelines to be live and part of the game. When I say i want the sidelines to be live, it means that tierd players who jus left are getting a drink or getting oxygen and when there is a big hit or a nice juke by the RB i want the guys on the sidelines to react to that . Also when a player from the field runs out of bounds at the guys on the sidelines I want both of them to react to eachother, like the guys on the sidelines are trying to stop the player from the field from falling or getting out of his way. I hoped that in madden 09 this would be fixed but I was disappointed.

Also some "superpower" animations have to be fixed like the WR speedburst and when a DB is in air with a WR but the WR makes the catch and some how the DB gets levrage and lands a big hit while in air! The infamous beastmode also has to fixed, I know Matt Ryan is a well known QB and I also know that he cannot run 98yards for a TD right through the middle of the defense, this happens with a lot of different players. There's also the doublejump, when you begin a hurdle too early and you are about to land and the defensive player goes for a low tackle somehow the guy who hurdled thrusts back up into the air and goes over the defender! Also when the ball is thrown slightly in the opposite direction to the reciever. The ball is now not catchable by the reciever but somehow he is able to jump the way the ball is thrown and make the catch! That is a mini list of the bad physics in the game. I am a big physics fanatic I guess, so please fix these issues and please minimize the amount of bad physics to an absolute minimum.

Now this is sort of a personal request can you please add the animation where Troy Polamalu made the incredible one handed interception against the Chargers  on Nov, 16, 2008. When the ball was nearly on the ground but he was able to make the interception by sort of scooping the ball one handed (with his fingers) then he also managed to gain some yards. That was just amazing it would be so amazing if in madden 10 DBs or WRs were able to sort of replicate that interception(catch).

The screenshot looks great minus the blur effect but when can we expect a madden 10 video?

Kudos to Peter, Ian, and the rest of the Madden development team.  Over the past couple of years I have been one the harshest critics on Mr. Moore's blog.  I was under the impression that the devloment teams at Ea Sports had maxed out their next generation gaming potential and that the resulting games wwere less then stellar.  I must say that Ian and company are trully bringing "it" with Madden 10 and I cannot wait for it to hit the store shelves.  The weekly Madden updates have not only shown the subtle improvments that will make Madden 10 more realistic then ever before, but have also given the gamers a voice to interact with the development teams.  I asked for towels on the players uniform options for 3 years now and i'm so elated to actually see the towels on the player models this year.  I know the old addage beggars cannot be choosers, but hopefully along with the addition of towels, we will also see tighter game play, various cleat brands, more palming animations, unbuckled chin straps on one side of the helmet, high/low sock options, and carrying the football with two hands on the ball as the players matriculate through defenders.  Once again Kudos on a great job to this point, hopefully the NCAA Football development team will get on the ball soon and implement many of the apsects we now see in Madden 10.

Sorry but I have to Call AggieFan4Life out. . . I see where you're comming from with them keeping information away from the public about any game. But if they had everything done right now and were like "Hey guys lets show you everything"people wouldn't log on next week to see, people would STILL critisize every little thing. The thing is they want your suspense and want you to get excited about the game. . .

EA you know how if a player makes a sack, INT,fumble, TD, Long run/pass. The sideline players & Coach would jump up and run with him or go crazy or all of that. You should add that in. HOPEFULLY there will be shoe colors this year, ankle tape should have more than black and white. The White and Black "Bulky"ankle tape seems so fake too big looks like a cast.

Also for a QB sneak the QB NEVER (in NFL) gets straight up and runs full speed, he normally just dives or kinda falls foreward its getting kind-of annoying seeing Vince Young on a planned QB sneak sprint 3 or 4 yards.

LOVE THE HITSTICK (Still) maybe some more animation would be nice, 2 players hitting 1 guy High/Low. Helmets comming off, Jerseys geting un-tucked. would be great. Just watch ONE NFL game and throw that stuff in don't throw all the cheesy DAVID TYREE like catches in because that will only happen ONCE. ONLINE FRANCHIS , ONLINE FRANCHISE, ONLINE FRANCHISE, ONLINE FRANCHISE, ONLINE FRANCHISE. . . That would make it 11/10 game to me I used to play college all the time ONLY the Online Dynasty but I LOVE NFL, ONLINE FRANCHISE SHOULD BE IN MADDEN 10

Looks good, but still some areas of improvement I can see. The players on the sideline still look fake. In NFL Head Coach, the sideline players look as good as the onfield players. Can we please do this in Madden too? Also, Big Ben is too small. You guys need to make him a little bigger. otherwise, great job, keep up the good work.

To Peter Moore,

Okay, screenshot looks good and the blogs on improvements are great. HOWEVER, will you please state whether Madden 10 will be released on the PC or not. You have been hinting at the fact that main ea sports titles will come back but haven't truly answered the question. Same goes with Tiger Woods 10. The game is supposed to be released in June but there is still no word on a release for PC.

I just don't want to be reading these blogs and get high hopes only to be told that PC is going to be skipped once again because of business issues.

Thanks,

EA the game looks great. Keep up the good work. Lets hope the gameplay works with graphics and game itself.I see some great improvements such as the chain-gang, refs, even towels. It would be nice to add some under armour, addidas, even some of the new jordan style cleats would be good. Also this year ould you give the game a depth anouncing duo, and a real like sunday football game. You know with the fox nfl crew giving there thoughts and opinions on the game, along with their pre-game,halftime, and postgame show. That would definetly give the game a real life sim of a sunday afternoon gridiron game. Even some realistic injuries and reports in the game. In all of the newer versions i've played of madden, why is it that a player has a serious injury, he walks off the field himself wit no assistane. If a player was to break his leg, he should be carted off the field like the pros, instead of limping it off himself. I ask that you please fix that. As of now the game loos beautiful, and i hope it keeps aking strides forwords and not back. Keep up the good, and hard work. I Think madden fans are going to like this game this oming football season.

One thing that is a small detail that would go a long way for me is if you could choose one glove like Big Ben wears, or an option for your player to wear sleeves only when it's cold. It was in NCAA Football in 2004 on PS2, and it's cool. The more customizable options there are, the better.

HERES SOME MINOR IDEAS THAT WILL MAKE THE GAME MORE DETAILED

1)BRING BACK THE APARTMENT ON SUPERSTAR MODE

2) THE PLAYER SHOULD BE IN HOUSES OR APARTMENTS DEPENDING ON THEIR CONTRACT

3) WHEN U MAKE A STADIUM PLZ ALLOW US TO MAKE LUXURY BOXES ALL AROUND THE STADIUM AND BE ABLE TO CHOOSE HOW MANY LEVELS.

4)ALLOW US TO CHOOSE THE KIND OF LUXURY SUITES, PRESS,OUTDOOR, CLUB,OR SEATS.

I JUST SAW THAT PIC UP THERE IT DIDINT' LOOK LIKE U USED TEXTURERS FOR THE SUITES BUT STILL CAN U JUST MAKE THE SUITES CLEAR TO A POINT WHERE U CAN SEE PEOPLE THATS THE ONLY THING WRONG WITH THE GRAPHICS.

5) IT SORTA LOOKS FAKE I SHOULD BE ABLE TO SEE FOOD STANDS LIKE I SEE IN NHL OR NBA LIVE, ALSO PEOPLE SHOULD BE WALKING AROUND THE STADIUM LIKE THEY ARE HETING SOMETHING TO EAT OR THE BATHROOM,

6) fix the bears stadium it looks unreal.

7) i cant stress this enougth STOP using textures for luxery suites just make them clear and make sure its really detailed on the inside.

8) WHY no WR reverses or RB/WR throws i miss them.

these are things to make the already good graphics way better PLEASE READ

i just downloaded nba 2k9 demo the suites they used have no textures DO WHAT THEY DID BUT WITH PEOPLE AND SEATS IN THE LUXERY BOX.

The graphics look great and thanks for the screen shot.

Here is something I think Madden should add in 2010. Size and strength.

-Size vs. Strength: I hate seeing a 189lb Half-Back truck stick a 324lb lineman like a rag doll. This is not realistic. A Half-Back thats small cannot run over a big lineman like nothing. A linemen that size would take him down easily. And vice versa. Lets say Brandon Jacobs is running with the ball. A smaller CB or Safety would have trouble taking him down cause of his size.

Another thing that can go along with that. Is players reflecting off each other. Picture a linebacker and the ball carrier running at full speed. The linebacker is getting ready to hit the ball carrier. The ball carrier lowers his head and shoulders and smacks into the linebacker. The ball carrier is going to loose his; balance, footing, speed, and refelect off of him. Then, the ball carrier would half to regain his balance and and try to gain more yards. If he wasnt tackled.

Because, stuff like that does not happen in 09. In 09.. If I truck stick some one I just run through them in the same direction. That shouldnt be happening.

I think the screen shot looks great, graphics are slightly improved and its good to see handtowels and refs in the game, one thing i noticed though is that the ball looks oversized, either that or players hands in the game are ridiculously small, plus his hands aren't on the laces, i dont know of many QBs that throw without holding the laces, and a quick question, are you getting rid of the shoulder pad glitch from last year, where players look like they are playing blitz rather than madden?

just some minor details but keep up the good work EA

I see that I got called out so let me respond.

The community days for the games are supposed to show off the new games and get gamers excited for the new game.  I have seen nothing that really excites me about NCAA10.  EA Sports has a long way to go before I am wowed.  I have seen very few ideas implemented that have come from the developer's forums so I question whether EA Sports is truly listening.  There have been very few new topics posted in recent memory and the responses from the Development Team are getting fewer.

If the objective of EA Sports is to make great games then EA Sports will come up well short with NCAA10 based upon what I have seen so far.  The CEO of EA has stated that this is why they failed to do good financially.

Lovin that screen picture awesome....

There are alot of things that EA should add to Madden 10,

1. New plays. From 09, alot of the plays were so original. Allow for some creativity and please put the wildcat formation on here.

2. The tackles have to look so much better... Make it interesting have a variety of motions.

3. Maybe a more dramatic injured effect instead of athletes just laying on the ground when injured, have a point were they must be either carted off or looked at by physicians.

4. Please get some different announcers... Have Madden and I think Al Michaels but have more... and also allow for the games to be placed on different "stations": NBC and CBS. And the music that they have for football on these channels.

5. Allow for review of plays to occur during the game like if a players feet were in zoom in and show that they were.

6. Last one,  on NBC I think they have alot of tools they use to calculate things maybe add those.

This maybe be too much but at least take into consideration some things....

To BillTheMac,

I am very familiar with Gideon Prime's many Madden-bashing videos. And to an extent, he has a point. But contrary to popular belief, Brandon Jacobs is not hard to take down. In fact, he trucks people because he falls foward onto them. If you go for his legs, then his upper body strenght is useless. Marshawn Lynch, Marion Barber, Steven Jackson, these guys can be wrapped up and in a second get right back out. Did you see Barber break 9 Patriot tackles in his OWN endzone!?! And we're talking +300 pound linemen wrapping him up!! So it's not always about weight.

BTW, ESPN took a defensive players poll in last year's August issue on who's the top 5 hardest runners to take down in the NFL. Brandon Jacobs did not make the list.

BlacHaze84 said:

March 24, 2009 8:13 PM

Correction, It was the September issue with Mario Williams on the cover. ESPN wrote an article on Marion Barber because he is the league's consensus pick on the toughest and hardest runner to tackle. If anything, Madden should give Barber a 100 in trucking or break tackle.

I'm loving the graphics! The above screen shot looks great, but I would like to see the defensive linemen (and the DBacks) heads to swivel so that they are focused on the QB.  The above screen shot looks pretty realistic, until you see that linemen looking straigt in the direction they're going... I'd also like to see some cheerleaders in the mix!  Also, bring back John & Al... they're the best at their trade and no one else should be on Madden... thanks for your time!

TheSteelest said:

First and foremost: Bring back Al Michaels and John Madden!  The rest of my suggestions are feasible, please consider them.  I'd like to see some cheerleaders when my team gets a first down or scores a TD... I want to see the guys on the sidelines jump up and down in excitement when I'm running back an INT or when I'm taking a deep pass to the house... I want the stretcher to come out when I've taken out a player on the opposing team... (and players should gather around on one knee and pray while this is happening)... Since you've got Gatorade, can we get the players to dump it on the coach after a significant victory?  The WildCat has to be available... If you can, add the amazing Tyree catch to the animations...  I know this is a long shot, but could you add cutscenes that show the crazy RAIDER fans in the BLACK HOLE - make up and all? The Hogettes (cross dressing lady pigs for the Redskins), Fireman Ed.. The Dog Pund in Cleveland... you get the picture... Keep up the great work - I'm a loyal fan!

Hey what about in NFL when they show the starters on the screen when they like roll by at the end. Kind-Of like a score ticker but with players w/ their pictures. This year with there be Half Time shows/highlights. Also like a Sports Center top 10 or end of the franchise week highlight shows throughout the week. Better gang tackling or the ball carriers bouncing off of defensive players and the player actually SLOWS down not just keep running at the same speed. people pulling jerseys or helmets off. more 1 handed catches (verieties) better diving catches. Multiple penalties on 1 play say i get a holdin penalty then I get facemasked for 15 they only call the 1st one.

BRING BACK WR REVERSES, RB TOSS WR REVERSE, DOUBLE WR REVERS, WR REVERSE PASS,

Bubstarr, I'm going to guess there is because all of those players who wear nikes and what ever actually get fined by the league. You just don't hear about it really. Kinda like how its a fine to throw the ball in the crowd, but when someone does it you never hear about the fine.

Black Mamba205 said:

To the people that are asking for better injusry animations, I remember reading somewhere that the NFL told EA (after they got the exclusive license) not to have realistic or serious looking injuries because they didn't want the NFL to be viewed as too violent for the kids playing the game. Just something I read don't know if its true.

cover guy has to be big ben cause he gets hit and keeps on tickin leading his team to sucess. also, the running needs to be more realistic in refrence to strides and stride length in reference to yard markers, cutting ability, and custom strides <cause reggie bush does not stride the same behind the line of scrimmage, given the circumstance/situation>

"Quote: Peter Moore"

We're hitting the real sweet spot of development for this generation of consoles as the team is really hitting its stride in squeezing every ounce of power and capability from the hardware.

My question to you Mr. Moore is "which hardware".  Certainly you can't make that claim for the PS3 because you have yet to tap the potential of the 50GB ceiling that Bluray has to offer, so you must be referring to the limitations of the XBOX 360 which provides me the segway to a second question for you.

Is it not true that the reason why you wont tap into the true potential of the PS3 is because you don't want to upset Xbox 360 fans.  PS3 has pretty much established itself as  superior gaming console for sports.  Take one look at MLB 09: the show.  Mr. Moore, if you continue to hamstring the PS3 by not utilizing the 50gb space afforded by Bluray and give us PS3 owners the game we deserve, then please have the decency to allow Sony to produce a Football game for us PS3 owners.

I for one Mr. Moore am tired of having to play portovers from an inferior console in that of Xbox 360.

Thankyou.

#1 The sideline players, as well as the ones in plain street clothes.

#2 The fact that refs are following the game which seems in real time, and not just AI flunkies.

#3 Individual player animations from the bench to the players on field.

#4 Truely rendered off field models such as gatorade containers are accurately modeled.

I would really like to see the term "Interactive" used alot, when it comes to producing gameplay.

For far too long we as fans have supported every gradual step that ea has made; And now that the technology is available there should be no excuses to improve on gameplay.

Some of us (fans) have been playing madden since it's inception in the early 90's, and

we, well I hope that you peter, and your staff understand that the people who play this game,

are the same ones who watch the game. So let's be honest with ourselves and spend the time and money to produce what we (I) want, AND THAT IS QUALITY, NOT QUANTITY.

I am a diehard fan, and I do not want to be disappointed by an half a@$ attempt to gain my trust into buying cannon fodder.

"ONE" screenshot is not enough for me to get comfortable with the game, If you reall value your customers, and how they have made your company what it is today, then heed our advice. I speak for myself when I say that I enjoy playing with my friends and family at home and online,

with complete strangers, and madden is a central piece to creating more freindships.

I have faith that you guys will adhere to our requests, and if I may adhere to our demands, And that is our primary demand, a "quality game". BTW great screen shot petey....

OK,....First things first, Presentation goes along way to helping the gameplay. But not to the point that it completely consumes the game, in other words, replay animations are good but when they become repetitious, it is annoying.

When it comes to free agency, can you make seem alittle more realistic, and not a meat market menu advertisment?.

08' Had really good intro and animation affects(not a typo) I meant affects because ultimately what the game does affects what I do.

Sidleline interactivity, something like the qb coming to the sideline to get coaches input on a play, and or consult in regards to 2 minute gameplan, a goal line play scheme.

How about more interactivity with regards to player injuries: Like player recovery, post interview

w/ player/coach.

What ever happen to the ambulance that used to come on the field when a player got hurt?, that was ingenuity right there. More realism when it comes to on field injuries, like when a player is severely injured like career ending, or life threatening players console or get on one knee...etc.

you guys get the point, this is the kind of stuff we want to see, but,...but...but, do not forget the gameplay under no condition forget the gameplay...

also on the 49ers no one ever drops it except for bruce who has hands

The only thing that has been missing from Madden in my opinion is the ability to edit player sizes and builds in or out of franchise mode (i.e. height, weight, body shape). Every Madden from the PS1 and PS2 generations had this, maybe even earlier, but for some reason next gen hasnt. It couldnt be that hard to impliment since it was in the game for like 10 years.

I would like to be able to edit every aspect of the players in Madden, from equipment to appearance to ratings. This goes for in the roster menu and during franchise mode. Most games, like NBA 2K9 and MLB: the Show have this option in their franchise/dynasty modes, so why doesnt Madden?

Please give the superbowl a little more pizazz, I would love to see the same kinda trophy room as in ncaa, where all of the trophies both personal and team aquired.

The superbowl needs a major overhaul, and it too is part of the game.

dam that pic looks good but i dont think we buy madden to dwell on the authentic biz i mean yeh the graphics should be tight but 1 of the things that ea really should be looking at is improving gameplay and everything that has to do with it for me is definitely A.I awareness and not hav them look really stupid when a ball is thrown there way for them jus to watch it fly pass 2 rocket catching now that is bulshit and it aint realistic 3 online play has to improve dramatically 4 connection problem i live in new zealand i and i cant seem to be connecting to my fellow country men ea knows how much people play online so why not make your servers strong enough to handle the amount of people that plays online whether its in america or the far parts of the world i mean c'mon why is i can connect to some american players a not the people from my own country but yeh thats all for me ,but hey madden 09 is a far more better edition then 08 lets hope there really is a change in madden 10

These updates an first screen shot are amazing. Just like everyone else, can't wait for it to come out. Now I won't say all the same things that people have been saying all over these message boards (except for the fact that FAIR PLAY is a MUST online) but I wanted to try to say things that were forgotten. Such as:

1. Let us not be able to walk through field goal post an walls (absolutely rediculous lol)

2. If we are to have that many camera flashes, how about flashes that actually come from the photographers on the sidelines :-p

3. On field action on the jumbo trons

4. Have the genaric cover athlete but give us (the users) the ability to create our own in game cover athlete by being able to take on field photos....now that would be awsome. I'm sure everyone would like this idea.

5. Last but not least, have the players play to their ability. For example, I don't want to see a 78 overall defensive end plowing over my 99 overall offensive linemen. Let's let the ratings dictate the outcome.

That's about it really, well there are small stuff like moving clouds over the field an kickers warming up on sidelines an noticable flags on field for penalties but i'm sure you guys already put it in Madden 10. These are things we do see on Sundays. Don't get me wrong, Madden 09 was a big improvement from 08 but it's just the small things that needed fine tuning. Like I said earlier though, these updates are great an the fact your allowing us to suggest ideas is truely remarkable. Keep up the good work EA, it can only get better from now on. Peace

"Really nice job EA. Black, White, Blue, Red, Yellow, Green, Orange, Purple, etc.)."

I agree with this. If you dont list them as their own position it would be nice to atleast have its own rating so you will be able to determine is the person can do it before you sign them

i would like to see troy polamalu on the cover.

as long as the gameplay is better, i dont really care too much about sidelin detail, like fans, chain gangs and all that.

What's the scoop on MADDEN 10 for PC ??????

If EA would wise up they could use STEAM or develop their own service similar to it to deliver Madden 10 and other PC software and be done with it.

EA really needs to take advantage of the power and flexibility in the modern PC. Advanced feature rich online leagues could make EA crazy money for PC if they would just put some time into it.

At the very least EA could have released a roster update for PC 08 or a Dev Kit so users can update on their own.

When I see Madden 10's visuals and graphics i dont really notice anything different than the Towel,Refs and chaingang, and patches nothing else!!! When you notice the screenshot look at #78 push #55 that doesnt look realistic.... the grass needs some work in some of the fields (real life) the grass looks green and clean but in Madden it looks dead green and some dead grass.... the cleats need updating also gloves!! The socks need some workin show some clips where the guy lifts up his sox after being takled and adjust the sock lengths (white part of sox) because in real life the socks are in different lengths!! I WILL EMPHISIZE THIS FIX THE SHOULDER PADS BECUZ IN 09 THEY LOOKED WEIRD SOME HAD THEM POPPING OUT SOME HAD THEM GOOD FIX IT!!!! MOST player models dont look NOTHING LIKE the ACTUAL guy like QBs, WRs, RBs, DBs and DTs!!!

The Snow effect also when you played 09 or in the Rain the game looked blue!!! Why? It looked like fog surrounded the stadium speakin of snow and rain how bout when the player falls it makes a splash in the rain or a trail in the snow CMON DESIGNERS!!!

You want the game to look like if your playin and some1 walks in to say theres a game on? Not to say who's playin as who? Get me plz EA fix this and we would have the best madden of the year!!!!

Cmon look at animated films they make it look real and thats bcuz they have to make a hole lot of things for a movie this is a game push yourself open up to the fans see wat they want!! never say "we cant do this feature cuz...." no unless it looks like "oh snap take it off" but we the fans are craving for the game bring the best madden ever!!!! PLEASE LISTEN TO WHAT IM SAYIN: you guys make the gameplay sooooooooooo good and then you dont all the way bring it with the appearance you really need to bring NIKE onto madden goodness reebok does not rule the nfl! the uniforms should vary as in quarterbacks from a loose cut like peyton manning or an tight cut like the more recent qb's also most players never have their socks the right way you should be able to adjust that in the roster menu by percent 1% being more for like kickers who where almost all white socks on their uniforms to 100% for players like reggie wayne who looks like he is barley wearing white socks mostly blue also please bring back eye paint that was key in previous maddens........more helmets including LT'S! you should also put nfl logos on the bands around arms and team logos on visors...............and dreads should vary to player as in extremley long long kinda long and short and the pads should look tucked in even on the regular uniform or tight even on the regular ones not like a thick layer of left over uniform and bring about the more minute colors in uniforms example: Seattle wears alot of lime green lime green nikes gloves etc. also clevend browns dont really wear brown gloves more like orange.............i know this is alot but the little things is what people who study your game look at so work on that and maybe give people signature running patterns or somethings everyone looks the same ya know?

I have a ton of comments.  I have been holding back for awhile waiting to see if my comments would make sense because I'm a semi new player.  However, with that said...............

1. Kickers that can't kick 50+ FGs shouldn't be able to do it in games, OT, at home or in their dreams.

2. Please fix the issue with not being able to call a challenge from time to time...yes there was more than 2 mins left in the half.

3. I'm glad the layering fix will help with allowing a QB to throw with a lineman in his face.

4. We need better defenses for stopping the run.

5. Stop unrealistic INTs, CBs shouldn't be able to go thru a player to get a pick

6. Commentators say weird things like " he got hammered at the 49, when I'm on the 30".

7. And the cheat codes, do something to stop people from using them if you can.

Love the graphics coming to M10, more to come later.  Love the game.

Also for the playoffs can you let the teams hold up their trophies and have the media come on the field and stuff. C'mon give me a break...every game does not end the same so, why on earth would EA have the same quarterback pumping, guys kneel down, few guys jumping for joy ending? The ending should match the gmae that was played. where are the guys being interviewed by the press, guys taking off their helmets as they enter the stadium etc.? What ever happened to the Madden and Sumerall coverage prior to the games? C'mon people!!!

I would love to see EA bring back the ability to "scout" your online opponents.  In years past you could see before you play the tendicies of your opponent,  ie how oft then pass vs run, audible, scramble etc.   The stats are already there for us to look at about our own game, make it available for everyone to see before kickoff.  Head Coaches don't go into games without scouting their opponent,  neither should we.

I would also love to see EA put some more 'realistiic' restrictions on the ranked online games to make it less arcade like.  There is a time and place for going for it on 4th down... tie score in the first quarter, with a 4th and 20 is not the time.  Let's no promote stupid gameplay.   Not sure where to draw the line, but there needs to be one.

1. FRANCHISE MODE IS SO DEAD RIGHT NOW EA NEEDS TO GO BACK TO MADDEN 05 WHICH HAD THE BEST FRANCHISE MODE SO FARE WITH EA SPORTS RADIO WITH THE TONY BRUNO SHOW AND STORYLINE CENTRAL. YOU COULD LOOK AND POSITION BATTLES B4 U PLAYED A GAME YOU COULD GET INFO ON A TEAM GAME PLAN AND STRAGEY, ALSO OWNERS MODE.

2. BRING BACK CREATE A PLAYBOOKS AND ALSO USE THEM IN ONLINE PLAY (I KNOW THAT MIGHT NOT HAPPEN SOON WITH THE ONLINE CREATE A PLAYBOOK BUT DON'T RULE IT OUT).

I would like to see transition lighting and changing weather. 1:00 games should have a bright start and have a late afternoon look. 4:00 games should have the late afternoon look to a dark look. A freezing, cold game in Pittsburgh could be clear at the start but by 4th qtr, it could be snowing.

Looks awesome! I can't wait.  There is a lot of constructive criticism here that would make the game even better.  Keep up the good work.   "IF IT'S IN THE GAME, IT'S IN THE GAME!"

i think they are doin a great job with the game but i have some suggestions for madden 10

1. they should bring back the way the players got hyped up in the begginning of the game like in 07

2. they should also make it seem like a radio/TV broadcast like in 07

3.  what happened to trick plays?!?

thats all i can think of. i think they are reasonable and aren't too hard to put back in the game

So far of what I see this game is gonna improve big time from Madden 09' and 09' was a GREAT game so to improve more then that is pretty hard.

I have bin waiting for the towel's since around Madden 07.

And it's finally come.

And welcome back the chain gang! It felt a little empty on the side line in 2009.

Madden is just like Bret " The Hitman" Hart; The Best There Is, The There Was, and The Best there Ever Will Be. I think that it would be cool if the commentary was like how it is in football on tv. You local commentators during the day and on Sunday Night and Monday Night football is the big names like Madden. Just a thought. Keep up with the great work. Thanks

What's up!!! No PC version again, or will there be one? Just tell it already!

Why???? Everything you can do on the PS3 or Xbox, you can do on the PC. Seriously!!!

No PC release, come on that's the dumbest thing I have ever heard! Not even Creationism is so stupid! I will never buy a EA game again, until you release Madden, and I think there will be a lot of other people agreeing with me! !

############READ############################

- I think they should have like player specific moves. for example, larry fitz should be constantly making crazy catches.Brandon Jacobs should lower his shouder to about any defender.

-also, the hair should get fixed because not everyone's long hair is tied in a ponytail

-they should set it so that whoever the replaces chris collinsworth in madden 10 should have a bunch of made up names recorded that will be used in franchise draft. for example if your in your 4th franchise year and have a fake QB that you drafted 3 years ago and his OVR is like 94, the guy should say something like " Bob Juke makes another great throw to move the chains" or something

If you wanna make madden better this year how about fixing the freezing problems from the last two madden games, and make it so that you can actually do the 30 seasons of franchise mode, instead all you can do is about 5 of them before it starts freezing all the time. Also make superstar mode more fun, it gets boring after like 1 season. Seriously though fix these glitches they really piss me off, how can i do anything in franchise mode when i can only do like 5 seasons before it starts to mess up all the time

Look at all the Dallas homers bumming off Marion Barber.  As hard a runner as he is, how many 1000yard rushing seasons has he had........0

cOOlpepper look at how many times marion barber started and look at their backs now it might never happen or it could happen for the rest of his career.

I hope they get some offense pass interference in the on line part of the game. So it can be a little fairer between opponents.

Hand warmers added in the equipment section but only show up for cold games, bring bak the option for eye black 2. also, add some nike cleats and underarmor cleats. also add the cut off sleves like tom brady has. it would b cool if u could put in the statue of liberty play the pats did vs the jag's in 2007 aswell as the flea flicker type play they used vs the steelers the same year. some reverse plays wood be nice 2. thnk you for taking the time for considering these.

I wanna start by saying that i think you guys at EA do an exellent job with madden and its secound to none everybody might complain and have there beef with madden because of what happen with NFL 2K but you guys are King and everybody knows it. I just wanna put out there an idea about the roster depth. A lot of times guys come out of arena football or from overses or gets lost in the shuffle of the draft. I just  beilive it would be nice to see a guy like elbert mack be on the game or out the blue pro bowler clifton smith. those kinda guys are missed when u don't get a chance to see them but weither it goes down or not Madden will be the best game of the year jus by breathing
