Favre Takes Jets to Playoffs, Rose Bowl Braces for Maddenpalooza

As we all know by now, Brett Favre is a New York Jet.  And if you believe the simulation we ran using the Madden NFL 09 engine, Jets fans should get ready for the playoffs.  Our prediction has the Jets winning 11 games, their most since the 1998 season, and New York earning a wild card berth in the playoffs.  It’s going to be fun to see Favre in the AFC East, but I’m sure my fellow Patriots brethren will tell you that we’re still not scared of the Jets.

Get a look at #4 in green and white.  Going to take a while to get used to this, huh?

Meanwhile, our team is in LA making final preparations for Maddenpalooza.  We can hardly wait to get down to the Rose Bowl for next week’s launch.

Chris Erb, our director of marketing for Madden and the brains behind the incredible flurry of launch activities, checked in earlier today with these pictures to give us a sneak peak from the Rose Bowl, where we’re expecting thousands of fans to turn out on Monday to see Good Charlotte, Busta Rhymes and buy their first copies of the game.  Most importantly – admission is free.  Get there early.

A couple of other important announcements we made today:

•    An online roster patch featuring Brett as the Jets starting QB will be available by launch day, and hopefully even Monday Aug. 11.  As we’ve said before, the final packaged version of the game that you can buy in stores beginning next week will feature Brett on an “NFL Greats” roster.  In Franchise Mode, players can transfer Favre to the free agent roster pool, and pick him up on any of the 32 NFL teams for the 2008 season.  Or, go online and download new rosters (that include other changes as well) after you buy the game on Tuesday.

•    As we’ve previously confirmed, Madden will hit stores on Aug. 12 with Brett in his Green Bay Packers uniform.  We don’t plan to re-issue the game with new packaging, but will offer a free downloadable cover in the coming days on easports.com featuring Brett Favre in a Jets uniform.  Fans can print this new cover out and insert it into the case of Madden NFL 09.  Look for it by Tuesday.

•    The Madden demo is now available.  We’ve been reading lots of feedback on it.  Make sure you download it and preview the new Virtual Training Center and Madden IQ test.  Our producers are in the forums answering your questions, and they’ve posted this story for anyone wanting more about the demo.

The Jets winning 11 games is a total joke maybe 8-9 at most because the AFC is alot harder than the NFC and since Farve dosent have alot of targets to go to at WR he will most likely start forcing it and may cost the Jets a couple of games. The Jets will need to improve alot not just with Brett but at every postion if they want to make the playoffs. And since I am a Patriots fan I still wish Brett the best of luck and I am glad to see Brett back doing what he loves.

No Peter....we dont ALL know, cos we aint all Yanks!! Your blog seems to convey the message that EASPORTS is only interested in the American market and shows disinterest in anything outside America. Are you really a turncoat?

I posted before on how I loved the Demo, and I still do.  However, after reading another post, I would agree with what they had to say.  It was about how you pretty much are guaranteed an "All-Madden" score on the running aspect.  I mean, it tells you what to press.  How is this actually rating you?  When you play a regular season game, you don't get this.  I find that this aspect is not right, and you should not have "tips" when the game is trying to figure out your skill level.  If the game is supposed to "adapt" to you, shouldn't it base it off of your actual play, without being given any hints?  That part seemed more like a tutorial then a skill test.  If possible, I would take that one part out so that the game does not score you incorrectly, which it absolutely did in my case.

EA should be spending all the money to develop a quality product. What a waste of money ... Honestly .... if you dont do all that then also people who will buy this game coz this is the only official NFL game. Gamers who want to play an official NFL game they dont have any choice.

Peter ... you are posting about NFL daily but whats going on in Cricket and Rugby development? Next time do you mind writing a couple of lines about it as well?

Peter,

The following was from the list of nominess from the game critics awards. The link is:

www.gamecriticsawards.com/nominees.html

Best Sports Game

- Madden NFL 09 (Tiburon/EA for All Systems)

- NBA Live 09 (EA Canada/EA for All Plaforms)

- Shaun White Snowboarding (Ubisoft Montreal/Ubisoft for All Systems)

- Skate It (EA Black Box/EA for Nintendo Wii)

- Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 09 (Tiburon/EA Sports for PC, PS3, Wii, Xbox 360)

The Madden 09 & NBA 09 say "for all systems/platforms". That is incorrect  as there is no pc version this year. It sames the same for Madden on the winners page as well.

The Tiger Woods PGA 09 lists PC as one of its platforms, but you have said that it too wasn't coming out on pc this year.

I do not know who provded that information or if its a standard release, but I just wanted to point these out as they could be misleading to anyone who is not aware of the pc platform situation for EA Sports titles.

Still think you could've given us pc'ers something for the Madden 20th.

Anyway good luck at your Maddenpalooza.

Peter,

It's strange to see you working at EA after all of those years at Sega pumping the 2k series.

Anyway... it's bad enough that EA has the NFL license and no other NFL games can be made... you even realize the truth that NFL 2k5 is the best NFL game ever made... but seriously, why release Madden 09 in early August? The season doesn't start until September. If you guys would spend an extra few weeks on the game (NCAA too) you could fix more bugs and have "Jet Favre" on the cover instead of him in his Packers uniform. What's up with the 5 minute quarters, anyway? You're telling me you can't figure out how to make a NFL game play realistically at 12 minute quarters?

how can the jets go 8-9? last time i checked 8+9=17. there are only 16 games in the regular season. Pats will take Lombardi hardware home this year.
